David Maxwell

David Maxwell is a solicitor in our Private Client. He has previously been Head of Department in a number of law firms and spent eleven years as a partner in a large firm in London’s West End dealing with high net worth and international clients.

David’s particular specialisms are

Recent highlights include
• Saving a beneficiary in an estate several hundred thousand pounds by successfully making the case to HMRC that funds in an offshore account in the deceased’s name were in fact held on a resulting trust for the beneficiary and did not, therefore, form part of the estate for inheritance tax purposes.

• Reaching a settlement with charitable beneficiaries on behalf of client based in Singapore regarding a valuable property in Kensington and Chelsea which his late wife had bequeathed to the charities in a deathbed Will.

• Assisting client with blended family to provide for her second husband and their children as well as her child from a previous marriage with a combination of outright gifts and life interest trusts in her Will, plus a whole of life insurance policy.
